Blood and Badges

Meet Susannah.

Susannah is a vampire. And a detective.

She's also one of the main characters in my latest story to be picked up for publication: "Blood and Badges."

I'm thrilled for this opportunity to have my story alongside so many great names in the anthology Requiem: An Anthology of the Undead. The competition for this anthology was fierce, and my story was the only vampire-based one to make the cut.

Talk about an absolute honor.

You know what else is an absolute honor in all this? I get to work with the incomparable Lisa Mangum as my editor.

And to top it all off, even though my Dad is no longer with us, I know he'd love this story. You know why? Because he collected vampire books. I mean Every. Single. One. Ever. Published. up until the early 2000s.

Why vampires of all things? I have no idea. I never thought to ask him when he was still alive. But I smile to think that my book would be up there alongside all the big-name authors like Bram Stoker, Stephanie Meyer, Anne Rice, and so many more. Thousands upon thousands. An entire room in our house dedicated to bookshelves filled with vampire books.

Unwittingly, his interests inspired so much of my writing career.

So here's to Susannah and all her future adventures.
